A Letter from a Sister
Living in 117 was a truly amazing experience that was pivotal to my overall college experience. I remember the day I dragged my bags and boxes into room 211 and rushed to put the room together as fast as possible with my roommate. The house immediately felt like our home.
Jen and Jess, our super cool houseparents, made us smile, laugh and feel taken care of each day. Katy, our outstanding chef, lifted my mood every morning at breakfast and stuffed our stomachs on Sunday mornings for brunch. Dinner is served every night at 6pm: this was always my favorite time because I could take a break from work and just talk and hangout with my friends.
After dinner, we would all carpool to the library or, if we were feeling tired, the chapter room. When we were done with work, we would gather in the living room to watch a movie all together before bed. My favorite was when we had taco night for dinner and watched Just Go With It all together after studying.
Overall, living in 117 was the best year ever and allowed me to get so close with everyone in my member class. I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Warmly,
Jane Sidon
Meet Our House Parents
Jen is a DG alumnae from Washington state who moved into the house with her husband Jess in 2007. Together, they supervise and ensure the safety and well being of all live-ins. From helping members with any personal crises, buying yummy snacks, to offering entertaining dinner company, Chi wouldn't exist without these two. When on break from their respective jobs as Cornell Faculty, you can find these two traveling the world and going on amazing adventures. Ask them about their diving trips! To Potential New Members, even in your home away from home, you will have two dedicated individuals making sure you have the best experience living in 117. To parents, we know your daughter's safety is of the utmost importance, and you can rest assured that Jen and Jess will take great care of her.
